Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh to Appear at Hometown Rally in Saratoga
STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s volleyball alum and two-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh will be honored with a rally in her hometown of Saratoga, Calif., on Tuesday, June 19th.
The event, co-sponsored by Acer, Inc., and the City of Saratoga, will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Wildwood Park in Saratoga, located at 20764 Fourth Street. Fans are encouraged to attend the event, hear about her Olympic experience and join Walsh in a few volleyball activities.
Walsh was a member of the Stanford women’s volleyball program from 1996-99, winning NCAA titles as a freshman and sophomore. The 1996 National Freshman of the Year, Walsh was a four-time AVCA All-American, two-time Pac-10 Player of the Year and the 1999 Co-National Player of the Year.
Walsh is also a three-time Olympian, playing indoor volleyball in the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia and winning back-to-back gold medals on the beach in Athens, Greece (2004) and in Beijing, China (2008). Walsh and beach partner Misty May-Treanor have qualified for the 2012 Games in London this summer.
